Events We Have Held (2018-2020)
Haymarket Day Parade
At Haymarket Day we taught the people (3-13) how to drive a robot. Next we let them do it themselves. After that we asked them if they liked it, most of them said 'Yes'. We also gave them flyers so they can contact us.
The reason we did that is because we care. We had so much fun teaching how to use the robots. But it was also challenging because for the younger kids (3-5) we had to explain it way more then with the older kids (6-13).

Abacus Robotics Open House
On September 21, 2019, the Ironmechs held an open house. It showed people who came what we do during our meetings. There were different stations people could learn from. We showed how a 3D printer works and how to drive a vex IQ robot. The kids were also taught how to program with ROBOTS. The kids understood how to program when we taught them. Everything showed that we share our enthusiasm for robotics. People who came saw a great experience of what we do.
Pennington School STEM Night
Last year the Ironmechs went to Pennington Traditional School in Manassas, VA, for the school STEM night. We showed kids from grades 1-4 how to drive a mini robot and they watched us drive our competition robot. To attract more people, we used our robot to guide people to come and see our demonstration. The kids had fun driving and watching us drive. Even though they wanted to drive the bigger robot, they liked driving the small one. It made them realize what we do, and how we do it.
